So, ich bin so weit, es kann losgehen! Die Musik 2026 ist fertig, gefühlt sind also die wichtigsten zwei Punkte erledigt: Routenplanung und Playlists.

Hector ist nachhaltiger als jeder Jutebeutel, also nutzen wir konsequent das vorhandene Equipment. Im Jahr 2005 war ein CD-Radio ultra-modern – erst recht, wenn es für den Wohn-Betrieb des Camperlebens mit einer Mini-Fernbedienung ausgestattet ist.

Thanks to the installed radio with full modern features back from 2005, I am the sole person in Europe that continues to buy compact discs. Perhaps, I will upgrade my driving comfort by glueing the remote control to the driving wheel…

Das Beste daran: es musiziert offline. Ohne Kabelsalat, ohne extra Aufladen, ohne Internet. Die UKW-Antenne ist vor allem Deko, aber der CD-Betrieb funktioniert tadellos. Mit etwas Mühe und überschaubaren Kosten lassen sich die vorbereiteten Playlists des Jahres auf funkelnde Silberscheiben brennen, was mehrere Vorteile hat:

1. Während Spotify Nischen-Produkte löscht, bleiben die Perlen der Musikgeschichte bei mir erhalten – was wäre das Leben ohne die „Insomnia“-Version der Polnischen Feuerwehrkapelle?!
2. Jede CD umfasst ca. 1 Stunde Musik in zuvor festgelegter Reihenfolge. Wie einst liebevoll orchestrierte Kassetten, so werden auch meine Compilations sorgsam Song für Song entwickelt, so dass jede Playlist eine eigene kleine Welt ist.
3. Jedes Jahr hat seinen eigenen Soundtrack – und damit auch jede große Reise. Seit 2017 habe ich so viel Auswahl angesammelt, dass ich manchmal heimkomme und denke: Mist, nicht genug hinter’m Lenkrad gesessen, ich könnt noch viel mehr Mitsingen…

By now, I have about 70 CDs with hand-made compilations. Sort of the fine dining of music taste, including specialties as the “Insomnia” version of a Polish Fireworks-orchestra. Every year comes with roughly five new playlists, dedicated to the road-trip ahead.

Die fünf CDs für 2026 machen Lust auf’s Losfahren: Wünsch dir was (Tote Hosen), Road Trippin‘ (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Euphoria (Muse) und einiges mehr für die Retro-Beimischung. Aiyana Lee, Hilltop Hoods und Maneskin für den zeitgenössischen Part, und jede Menge Good Vibes sowieso. Es dauert zwar noch einige Wochen bis zur Abfahrt, aber die Basis steht schon mal!

Still, there is a lot to do: Proper Clean-up for Hector’s inside and outsides; packing up clothes, blankets and other supplies, preparing my flat for interim usage. While taking care of umpteen little things within the next weeks, I will keep looking forward to the moment when Hector hits the road while I hit the play-button.
